FREDDIE FUN Our Freddie Fun camps are full of cricket games, activities and challenges. Ideal for all cricket mad children! The camps introduce and develop basic cricketing concepts in a fun learning environment.
AFCA Development Our AFCA Development cricket coaching camps offer children more in-depth technical, tactical and game-play coaching from our expert coaches. Children will spend more time in the nets and taking part in technical sessions than the Freddie Fun alternative but gameplay is still a huge focus throughout the camp.
Children are grouped by age and ability* on every camp to ensure they are challenged correctly. Freddie’s Lower Order - (5-7 year olds) – Our youngest age group focus on an introduction to cricket through fundamentals, gameplay and hand-eye coordination games. Freddie’s Middle Order – (8-10 year olds) – Our middle order continue their cricket development with introductions to new skills, more technique focus and a progression in to hard ball when suitable. Freddie’s Top Order – (11-14 year olds) – Our top order focus on development with a great focus on technical skills. *age groups listed are guides for the groupings. Children may be moved up or down according to ability.
Each Academy and BLAST camp features a star visit centred around inspiring the camp. The star will join in coaching sessions, face a gruelling Q&A from the children and complete an autograph signing. There is even the chance to bowl at the star in the nets if they bring their pads!
Seen more often on a TV screen than in his whites nowadays, Fred set up his grassroots cricket academy alongside Activate Camps in 2008 and has visited many camps to see children learning to play the Freddie way.
Freddie’s approach to playing the game cricket is probably best defined by the 2005 Ashes Series where he shone with bat, ball and in the field but also showed outstanding sportsmanship and empathy for the Australians.
Fred is keen to ensure that children learn to play the Freddie way, learning to hit the ball as far as possible, bowl as fast or spin the ball as far as possible, and take all chances in the field…all with passion, enthusiasm, sportsmanship and most importantly a smile on your face.
