AFCA FAQs

Will I receive any more information after I have made a booking?
Immediately after booking you will receive a confirmation email. There will be a medical information and child information form in this email that we ask you to fill in and bring to registration on your first day. We will also send a pre-camp email a week before the first day of the Academy to remind you of details.

Where do I drop off/pick up my child at an Academy?
Our pre-camp email will make it very clear where the registration point is at every venue and our staff will be on hand to help guide you too. Drop off and pick up will be at this spot every day and please look out for our branding and signs for registration.

What time should I drop off/pick up my child at an Academy?
Our coaching hours are 9.30am to 4.30pm. Extra time club runs from 8.30am to 5.30pm for a small additional charge of £6 per day. Please call our office team on 01785 711 572 to book this if you have not already done so and wish to use the extra time club.

What should my child bring?
Your child is welcome to bring his or her own cricket equipment, however we will provide all necessary equipment. Please bring swimming kit where required and sun cream, and please ensure everything is clearly labelled and named.

Will you provide lunch for my child?
No, please provide your child with a packed lunch and a refillable drinks bottle at all venues.

What should my child wear?
Each child should wear clothing appropriate for cricket. i.e. whites or tracksuits. Ideally every child should have 2 pairs of footwear, one for inside and one for outside.

passion of the game to as many youngsters as I can."

Will you provide drinks and snacks?
We do provide drinks and a limited number of snacks but we still recommend that you send your child with their own supply.

Where do you recruit your staff from?
The majority of our staff are recruited from your local area. They all hold an ECB qualification and are experienced in coaching and managing children. A necessary number of our staff will also hold first aid and paediatric first aid qualifications.

Do your coaches receive in-house training?
Yes, all our coaches go through face-to-face and online training so they are fully prepared as to how each Academy should be run and what to do in the event of any situation. Our training programme is accredited by IIRSM.

Will my child use a hard cricket ball on the Academy?
We use cricket balls every day on the Academy. If your child is capable of using a hard cricket ball then they will do so. Please note that we use softer balls for either safety or for drills at times - just like professional players do!

If I want to know how my child is getting on at an Academy, what do I do?
We have a Camp Manager on site at every camp at all times. Any parent can ring our office on 01785 711572 and they will then contact the Camp Manager to see how a child is getting on. Our office will then report directly back to the parent.
